Are online music lessons really effective?
Our short and simple answer to this question is YES!
the truth is… if we really didn’t believe our online music lessons were effective – we wouldn’t do it.
Encouraging children to learn a musical instrument is considered a priority for many parents but in recent years we think parents have started to ask themselves the question how much is my free time actually worth?
According to research by the Car People back in 2014 the average parent travels approximately 3,000 miles annually driving their children to and from school and to extra curricular activities. 1/3 of parents calculated the total time for these journeys added up to as much as 10hrs each week!
At ListenLoveLearn we think our online lessons not only offer value for money but are the ideal way for students to learn an instrument from the comfort of their own home with a real teacher.
We’ve chosen Zoom as our platform for our online lessons as Zoom offers many useful features for teachers such as sharing lesson content on a student’s screen or swiftly sending over lesson PDFs or audio files. This means no wasted time searching for missing lesson sheets or printing off extra copies – it’s paperless too!
Our team of teachers at ListenLoveLearn are all highly skilled musicians who are experienced with offering music tuition both online and in-person. We’ve found that our online students are typically logged on in time and are prepared for the lesson – usually saving minutes on set up time and getting tuned at the beginning of each lesson!
We encourage our students to set goals for their singing or playing and give all students the opportunity to work towards performance awards such as graded exams if it’s something they want to do.
Music exam boards have recently introduced the opportunity for students to enter for online assessments (live with an examiner) or recorded exams which can be done by submitting videos of students performing. Both of the options mentioned above are fully accredited, produce official grade certificates (for pass level and above) and qualify for additional UCAS points.
The results we’ve received for students who have taken the online assessments has been really encouraging – currently a 100% pass rate and above on all instruments / levels.
We hope this blog gives you an insight into how our online music lessons work and why we think they’re effective but if you’re still unsure … why not find out more or book a free taster session and experience a lesson for yourself?
